Western Bay Museum is a small 21st century museum that offers temporary, ever changing exhibitions in the Taylor Bros Transport Ltd Gallery. We take immense pride in the historical and artistic stories of our area and present these narratives in fresh and interesting ways. Permanent displays include Taonga Maori and George Vesey Stewart – Founder of an Ulster Plantation.
We offer unique public programmes with our 1900’s School Room Experience taking students back to the 1900s with our strict head mistress in our interactive school room. School activities change with each exhibition. Churning butter and bake scones on our wood range, dressed in costume and marching to the gramophone are always popular. This experience provides a great learning tool back in the class room.
Adult Group Experience includes a guided Museum Tour followed with scones baked in the wood range and tea served in fine bone china.
Bookings are essential for the public programmes.
