ADOPT A STREET KATIKATI

Help Keep Katikati Beautiful

Adopt a street, park, or place where you live, work, school OR play

and help keep Katikati litter-free and beautiful for everyone to enjoy

ABOUT THE ADOPT A STREET KATIKATI PROGRAMME

The Adopt a Street Programme aims to result in a cleaner and litter-free environment, making Katikati more attractive and visually appealing to locals and visitors.

We invite businesses, sports clubs, schools, organisations, families, and individuals to adopt a street, park or place where you live, work, school and play; and keep it free of litter.

HOW TO ADOPT A STREET

It’s easy to be part of the Adopt A Street Programme!

Simply register and nominate the street or place you want to adopt (check the map below for available places) and pick up litter in your area when it suits you.

GET STARTED

  • Complete the application form (online here or pick up a form from The Arts Junction, 36 Main Rd, Katikati) and nominate the street, park, carpark, field or place you/ and your team commit to removing litter from for at least six times a year for a minimum of a year.

  • Pick up your Adopt A Street pack from The Arts Junction, 36 Main Road, Katikati containing gloves, rubbish bags and a rubbish tag.

  • Your nominated street or place appears on the Adopt A Street Katikati Map below.

  • Pick up litter when it suits you (we ask you to pick up litter at least six times in a year).

  • Take photos and send them to info@katchkatikati.org.nz, tag Katch Katikati Inc and include #AdoptAStreetKatikati to spread the word.

  • Dispose of the litter collected in your appropriate wheelie bin. Your Adopt a Street pack includes a rubbish tag to go towards disposal of the litter you collect. If you’re finding loads of litter let us know (07 549 5250). Note: All recyclables should be clean before placing in recycling bins. Litter not rinsed and full of soil, product etc. will need to go in the general rubbish wheelie bin.

NOTE: Any illegal dumping – i.e. not litter – please report to Council online at: https://eservices.westernbay.govt.nz/online-services/new/sr/step/1 or Phone 0800 926 732.

  • Optional – Complete a Clean Up Report online here or on a form from The Arts Junction – and help the council to understand more about the litter in our town.

The programme is managed by Katch Katikati as part of the Tiaki Promise with support from Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
