KATIKATI A & P SHOW – SUNDAY 5 FEBRUARY 2012
The 2012 Show will be an exciting and interesting family day out – the Katikati A & P Committee is bringing together a variety of activities alongside the traditional Dairy and Beef classes and pony and horse events.

The Clydesdale horses will be back again this year – these beautiful big horses are gentle and appealing to all ages.   There will be a full programme of Highland Dancing and these popular competitions have a long association with A & P Shows.

In the Dairy Section we will again be running the cow milking competition where contestants are challenged to fill a cup of milk from a cow in the fastest time for a $100 prize.   This event features at midday and is a lot of fun for contestants and spectators.

During the day the Katikati wrestling club will be featuring a new format for wrestling – beach wrestling – and they will have a sand arena outside where they will be running competitions.

The photographic competition will run again this year for all budding photographers.   Katch Katikati have offered to receive the entries and print out the photos so if you wish to enter the photographic competition pick up an entry form from the information centre or e-mail Katch Katikati at info@katchkatikati.org.nz

New to the show this year will be a “petting zoo” where children can go and get close to puppies, rabbits, lambs etc.   Children will be catered for with numerous carnival rides, bouncy castle, jeeps, climbing wall.  The Water Walkers will be back again and there will be a mechanical bucking bull for all aspiring rodeo riders!    Another new feature will be a mobile Laser Skirmish – fun for all ages with no paint or mess and no projectiles.

The Katikati Concert Band will be presenting a programme of band music during the day which is always enjoyed by the public.   Another novelty this year will be the local ‘belly dancers’ performing during the day.

The courtesy bus will run again this year departing from the Library  – A & P Showgrounds – Beach Road – Park Road – Levley Lane – Polley Cres – Beach Road – Wills Road – Alexander Road – Fairview Road – Library between 10 am and 3 pm.

Katch Katikati will be organising a “Scarecrow” competition for the children.   All materials will be supplied and all the children have to do is make a scarecrow and these will be judged at the end of the day.

Entry schedules for horse, pony, cattle and photo competition are available at the Information Centre and Katikati Advertiser or e-mail debandbruce99@hotmail.com .   For Trade space phone/e-mail Anne Howard 549 3238/ annehoward@nettel.net.nz
