Katikati and Waihi Beach Community Business Awards 2016
The second Katikati and Waihi Beach Community Business Awards Ceremony was held on Saturday at Flat White Cafe at Waihi Beach. The red carpet was rolled out to celebrate the communities' best in business excellence, volunteer and sports groups and individuals.
Guest speaker Annah Stretton spoke on her latest project RAW (Reclaim Another Woman) which offers socially disadvantaged women a pathway forward to a different lifestyle through an unprecedented level of wrap around support and education. But the benefits to New Zealand don’t stop there because in creating a highly functional mother, RAW also enables the next generation to be loved, protected and nurtured though the education system creating a new cycle of opportunity and contribution. importance of small communities and volunteers, and the role they have played during her career. The evening closed with an address from WBOP Mayor Ross Patterson who reiterated the importance of such events that recognised the contributions of individuals and business within the two communities and encouraging the connection the event has created between them. The Mayor congratulated the winners and also thanks the many sponsors who made the night possible with their generous contributions.
